Quaye Quartey, a first-generation Ghanaian-American, served as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy, serving in combat in Kosovo and Iraq and supporting counterterrorism operations on five continents before serving as a military diplomat. After two decades of active-duty military service, Quartey retired at the rank of Commander and returned home to California where he earned his master's degree at Stanford University and founded a small business. In Congress, Quartey would join the ranks of national security leaders working to defend democracy at home and abroad.
