U.S. senate, wisconsin

Senator Tammy Baldwin was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2012, becoming the first female Senator from Wisconsin and the chamber’s first openly gay member. Previously, she served seven terms in the U.S. House of Representatives and three terms in the Wisconsin State Assembly. In the 118th Congress, Tammy serves on the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, and the Senate Appropriations Committee, where she is the Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services.

Tammy is a strong advocate for a diplomacy-first approach to foreign policy, often speaking out about the misuse of Authorizations for the Use of Military Force and the dangers of “mission creep.” She has also repeatedly led on a variety of humanitarian and human rights issues, including funding the Food for Peace Program, supporting de-mining programs in Southeast Asia, and champion LGBTQ+ rights at home and abroad.
