Foreign Policy for America Endorses Sara Gideon (ME) for Election 

Maine Speaker of the House endorsed by nonpartisan Foreign Policy for America

WASHINGTON D.C. - Foreign Policy for America announced today its endorsement of Sara Gideon for election. The daughter and granddaughter of immigrants, Gideon is running to represent the people of Maine in the U.S. Senate.

“Sara has proven herself as a dedicated public servant and an outstanding leader for Maine,” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director of Foreign Policy for America. “Not only will she be a strong voice in the U.S. Senate for restoring America’s standing in the world – she’ll be a strong voice for facts and science at a time when Americans are reeling from the COVID-19 pandemic and this administration’s incompetent response. Sara will be ready on Day 1 to work across the aisle and deliver results for Mainers, and that’s why we’re so proud to endorse her.” 

Gideon is serving her second term as Speaker of the Maine House of Representatives and her fourth term representing the people of Freeport and Pownal. She was first elected to the State House in 2012, and has previously served on the Joint Standing Committee on Energy, Utilities, and Technology, advocating for legislation to build Maine’s clean-energy economy. More broadly, Gideon’s work has focused on issues of public health, women’s rights, poverty reduction, and broadband access. Gideon holds a BA in International Affairs from George Washington University and understands the importance of the U.S.’ role on the world stage.
