Foreign Policy for America Endorses Randy Villegas for CA-22

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 21, 2026

WASHINGTON D.C. - Foreign Policy for America announced today its endorsement of Randy Villegas for election to Congress as the next Representative from California’s 22nd Congressional District.

“Randy Villegas knows exactly who pays for Washington’s mistakes. This administration picked a tariff fight, and growers in the 22nd got the bill. Donald Trump and Elon Musk destroyed USAID, and Valley farms lost an important buyer for their crops,” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director of Foreign Policy for America. “Randy Villegas has devoted his career to serving his neighbors -- as an organizer, as a professor, and on his school board. We need leaders like Randy to shake up Washington, and that’s why we’re proud to endorse him.”

“In Congress, I’ll be committed to keeping people safe and making life more affordable, which is why I’m honored to receive the endorsement of Foreign Policy For America,” said Randy Villegas. Right now, David Valadao has allowed President Trump to take us down a dangerous path with a war in Iran that nobody asked for. A war that is putting Americans at risk, and is costing us both at the gas pump and in the form of billions of our own tax dollars a day.”

Randy Villegas is an educator, community organizer, and school board trustee who has spent his career working on behalf of families in California’s Central Valley. The son of Mexican immigrants, he was raised in a working-class family in Kern County and became the first in his family to earn a PhD. Before graduate school, he worked as a community organizer and journalist in Kern County, reporting on immigration, environmental injustice, and education. He is a political science professor at the College of the Sequoias and has served since 2021 as a trustee of the Visalia Unified School District Board of Education. Villegas has argued that the dismantling of USAID hurt both the countries that received American food aid and the Valley growers whose crops filled those shipments, and he has tied tariffs, agriculture, and the war in Iran directly to livelihoods across his district. Now, he is running to represent California’s 22nd Congressional District, where he will press for diplomacy over escalation and restore congressional authority over the use of force.

Randy joins other FP4A endorsed candidates: Rep. Gabe Amo (RI-01), Rep. Yassamin Ansari (AZ-03), Chris Backemeyer (NE-01), Rebecca Bennett (NJ-07), Rep.
