Foreign Policy for America Endorses
Patrick Branco (HI-02) for Election

Former State Department Foreign Service Officer and Hawai‘i State Representative endorsed by nonpartisan Foreign Policy for America

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday May 25, 2022

WASHINGTON D.C. - Foreign Policy for America announced today its endorsement of Patrick Branco for election to Hawai‘i’s 2nd congressional district. Branco has a long history of serving American interests abroad as a Foreign Service Officer as well as in his home state and district of Hawai‘i as a State Representative. He now hopes to continue his service in Congress.

“Patrick Branco is a lifelong public servant and exactly the kind of leader we need more of in Congress. A highly respected former diplomat, Patrick understands the global challenges that affect Hawaiians everyday lives, from supply chain issues to climate change,” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director of Foreign Policy for America. “He’s also a problem solver. At a time when Congress is increasingly polarized and disrupted by personalities, we need diplomats like Patrick who can work across the aisle to get things done. At this critical time, when so much is at stake for our country, Patrick is the kind of next-generation leader we need to cut through the noise and carry us forward. That’s why we’re so proud to support his election to Congress.”

Patrick Branco was born and raised in Hawai‘i and graduated from the Kamehameha Schools, where his commitment to service started. He was the first Rangel Fellow from Hawai’i and the first Native Hawaiian selected for the program. After completing his master’s degree from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, he went on to serve tours in Colombia, Pakistan, the Office of the Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, the Secretary of State’s Operations Center, and in Venezuela with the Foreign Service. Patrick left the Foreign Service to represent his community in Hawai‘i’s State Legislature, where he now serves on the Water and Land Committee; the Corrections, Military, & Veterans Committee; and the Finance Committee.

Branco joins other FP4A endorsed candidates: Rep. Colin Allred (TX-32), Sen. Michael Bennet (CO-Sen), Rep. Jason Crow (CO-06), Rep. Val Demings (FL-Sen), Lt. Gov. Molly Gray (VT-AL), Rep.
