Foreign Policy for America Action Network Endorses Representative Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) for Re-Election

WASHINGTON D.C. - Foreign Policy for America Action Network announced today its endorsement of Representative Mikie Sherrill for re-election. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, Representative Sherrill is running to represent New Jersey for a second term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
“Mikie Sherrill has dedicated much of her life to serving her country – first as a Navy pilot and now as a Member of Congress. At a time when the Trump Administration has weakened American alliances around the world, we need her experience and her leadership now more than ever,” said Andrew Albertson, treasurer of Foreign Policy for America Action Network. “Representative Sherrill worked side by side with our allies in Europe to defend against Russian aggression and stand up for democracy and human rights. Now in Congress, she’s proven that she’s ready and willing to stand up to President Trump and his reckless foreign policy decision-making.”

Prior to Congress, Representative Sherrill served as a Navy helicopter pilot from 1994 to 2003, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander. After leaving the Navy, Sherrill attended law school, worked in private practice and eventually joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Jersey. As a first term Member of Congress, Sherrill serves on the House Armed Services Committee, where she has consistently advocated for responsible engagement with the world and worked to protect American elections from foreign interference.
Sherrill is one of Foreign Policy for America Action Network’s three House endorsements announced today, along with Rep. Colin Allred (TX-32) and Rep. Max Rose (NY-11). This group joins other House Members already endorsed by the organization: Rep. Jason Crow (CO-06), Rep. Andy Kim (NJ-03), Rep. Tom Malinowski (NJ-07), Rep. Elissa Slotkin (MI-08), and Rep. Abigail Spanberger (VA-07). The organization has also endorsed two Senate candidates in the 2020 cycle: Senator Jeanne Shaheen, running for re-election in New Hampshire, and former ambassador Dan Baer, running for Senate in Colorado. Foreign Policy for America Action Network also endorsed Sherrill in her successful run for Congress in 2018.
