FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON D.C. - Foreign Policy for America announced today its endorsement of Vice President Joe Biden for President. This is the first time Foreign Policy for America has endorsed a presidential candidate. The organization plans to raise $1,000,000 for its endorsed slate of candidates this cycle.

“Our country is in crisis and we need someone with the experience to lead a team of capable national security professionals to protect Americans,” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director of Foreign Policy for America. “Joe Biden is exactly the leader we need to unite our country and restore American values to our foreign policy – to rebuild our alliances, renew our support for democracy and human rights, and harness the strength and compassion of the American people for good.”

As Vice President, Joe Biden built strong relationships with leaders around the world and advanced U.S. national security interests. He led the fight for Senate approval of the New START Treaty to reverse the nuclear arms race, and he rallied global support for the Paris Climate Accord. He developed a bipartisan strategy to address the corruption, violence, and poverty that drives migrants from the Northern Triangle of Central America to the U.S. Southwest border. As a Senator, Biden was a champion of human dignity, leading the charge to end U.S. support for apartheid in South Africa and support democracy in the former Soviet Union. He stood up against genocide in the Balkans and Darfur and was a consistent voice for nuclear arms control.

If elected, Vice President Biden will reverse the extraordinary damage of the Trump years. He will work closely with our allies to address the coronavirus pandemic and put an end to Trump’s damaging trade wars. Biden will restore American leadership on the world stage in addressing global challenges like climate change, nuclear proliferation, and cyber warfare. Biden has pledged to immediately end family separation at the border, end the Muslim ban, and wind down our forever wars. As president, Biden will restore American diplomacy as our tool of first resort and rebuild a modern State Department that reflects America’s diversity and ingenuity. And in his first year in office, Biden plans to bring together world leaders for a Summit for Democracy “to renew the spirit and shared purpose of the nations of the Free World.”

In addition to endorsing Joe Biden for President, the organization has endorsed Senate and House candidates across the country: Rep. Colin Allred (TX-32), Rep. Gil Cisneros (CA-39), Rep. Jason Crow (CO-06), Cal Cunningham (NC), Dan Feehan (MN-01), Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06), Mark Kelly (AZ), Rep. Andy Kim (NJ-03), Sri Kulkarni (TX-22), Rep. Tom Malinowski (NJ-07), Gina Ortiz Jones (TX-23), Rep. Max Rose (NY-11), Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (NH), Rep. Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11), Rep. Elissa Slotkin (MI-08), Rep. Xochitl Torres Small (NM-02), Rep.
