Foreign Policy for America Endorses Jaime Harrison (SC) for Election

Former Hill staffer endorsed by nonpartisan Foreign Policy for America

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - October 22, 2020

WASHINGTON D.C. - Foreign Policy for America announced today its endorsement of Jaime Harrison for election. A South Carolina native who has come from behind to prove himself a serious challenger, Harrison is running to represent the people of South Carolina in the U.S. Senate.

“Jaime’s a no BS problem solver – and that’s the kind of leadership we desperately need right now,” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director of Foreign Policy for America. “Jaime’s been serving his community and his country his whole life. And he knows that what South Carolina needs today isn’t conspiracy theories or partisan fights, it isn’t new wars overseas, or walls, or attacks on immigrants. All of that is a distraction from this disastrous pandemic that has killed hundreds of thousands of Americans, and will keep killing Americans until we have some real leadership in Washington. We’re proud to endorse Jaime because he believes in diplomacy first foreign policy and will help renew America’s leadership role in the world. But most of all, we want to see real leaders again in Washington, and not just people spewing nonsense and kowtowing to Trump.”

After overcoming poverty and studying at Yale and Georgetown, Harrison returned home to teach kids with backgrounds like his. He then headed to Washington to begin his career on Capitol Hill, working for Rep. Jim Clyburn as his Director of Floor Operations while Clyburn was the Majority Whip of the U.S. House and then the Executive Director of the House Democratic Caucus. He returned home to South Carolina and became the first African American Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party in 2013, and now serves as Associate Chairman of the Democratic National Committee. He hopes to serve on the Senate Armed Forces Committee, where he will advocate for re-engaging our allies and pursuing diplomatic solutions that prevent violent conflict.

Harrison joins other FP4A endorsed Senate and House candidates: Rep. Colin Allred (TX-32), Steve Bullock (MT), Rep. Gil Cisneros (CA-39), Rep. Jason Crow (CO-06), Cal Cunningham (NC), Joyce Elliott (AR-02), Dan Feehan (MN-01), Rep. Jared Golden (ME-02), Sara Gideon (ME), Josh Hicks (KY-06), Rep.
