Foreign Policy for America Endorses Rep. Ruben Gallego (AZ-Sen) for Election

Arizona Congressman endorsed by nonpartisan Foreign Policy for America

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - March 22, 2024

WASHINGTON D.C. - Foreign Policy for America announced today its endorsement of Rep. Ruben Gallego for election to the U.S. Senate. Rep. Gallego is a fifth-term Member of Congress currently representing Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District.

“As a former combat veteran, Ruben gets it. He understands what it means to protect American families from those who would do us harm. He recognizes that climate change is a grave and growing threat to our communities. He knows that the best way to manage our problems internationally isn’t by rushing to war, but through strong U.S. diplomatic leadership,” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director of Foreign Policy for America. “Ruben has established himself as a respected national security leader in Congress, serving as the highest-ranking Latino on the Armed Services committee and leading the effort to stand up the Baltic Security Initiative to help defend our NATO allies. Right now, at a time when MAGA Republicans want to walk away from our Allies and leave the U.S. isolated and alone, we need his leadership more than ever. He has the knowledge, skills, and credibility to help lead us through this complex moment, and that’s why we’re proud to endorse him as the next U.S. Senator from Arizona.”

Rep. Ruben Gallego was first elected to Congress in 2014 after serving four years in the Arizona House of Representatives. Previously, Rep. Gallego served as an infantryman in the United States Marines from 2002 to 2006. He later served as Chief of Staff for a member of the Phoenix City Council and as Vice Chair of the Arizona Democratic Party. In the 118th Congress, Rep. Gallego serves on the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Natural Resources. Rep. Gallego has been a leader in the creation, authorization, and sustainment of the Baltic Security Initiative, a program that provides critical assistance to some of NATO's most vulnerable members and works to deter Russian aggression in Europe. Rep. Gallego has also been on the forefront of efforts to pass comprehensive immigration reform that would increase funding for effective border security and create new pathways to citizenship.
