Leading Representative endorsed by nonpartisan Foreign Policy for America

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - June 8, 2021

WASHINGTON D.C. - Foreign Policy for America announced today its endorsement of Representative Elissa Slotkin for re-election. As a member of the House Armed Services and Homeland Security Committees, Representative Slotkin is running to represent Michigan’s eighth district for a third term in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Elissa Slotkin has become a leading voice in Congress on strengthening our national security,” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director of Foreign Policy for America. “Building on her career of service in both the Bush and Obama administrations, Elissa is committed to defying partisan divides. From addressing climate change to making necessary investments to maintain our competitive edge abroad, she’s working across the aisle to introduce bipartisan, no-nonsense solutions to our greatest challenges. That’s exactly the kind of leadership we need in Congress right now and why we’re excited to work with her again this cycle.”

Prior to Congress, Rep. Slotkin was a CIA analyst who served three tours in Iraq as a militia expert. She also held several positions in defense and intelligence under the Bush and Obama administrations, including roles at the White House and in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and as Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs. As a second term Member of Congress, Rep. Slotkin is leading efforts to strengthen our national security, restore Congress’ constitutional authority on matters of war and peace, and invest in our economic competitiveness.

Slotkin joins other FP4A endorsed candidates: Rep. Colin Allred (TX-32), Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06), Rep. Andy Kim (NJ-03), Rep. Tom Malinowski (NJ-07), Rep. Abigail Spanberger (VA-07), and Rep. Susan Wild (PA-07). Our endorsed candidates are chosen because of their consistent leadership in favor of diplomacy- first foreign policy.
