Foreign Policy for America Endorses Senator Ed Markey (MA) for Re-Election

Leading Senator endorsed by nonpartisan Foreign Policy for America

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - July 16, 2020

WASHINGTON D.C. - Foreign Policy for America announced today its endorsement of Senator Ed Markey for re-election. As a member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Senator Markey is running to represent Massachusetts again in the U.S. Senate.

“Senator Markey has been a trailblazing leader throughout his career, taking on the massive global challenges of climate change and nuclear nonproliferation,” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director of Foreign Policy for America. “He is one of just 10 senators who received a perfect score on FP4A’s congressional scorecard in the last Congress (2017-2018), and he’s on track now to do it again. For us, there’s no question — we want to see 6 more years of Ed’s leadership in Washington. We’re very proud to endorse him for re-election.”

Senator Markey was first elected to Congress in 1976, serving MA-07 in the House of Representatives for 37 years. When President Barack Obama appointed then Senator John Kerry as Secretary of State in 2012, Markey ran and won in a special election to fill Kerry’s seat and then won a full term in 2014. Markey serves on the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and has been a leader on a number of issues, including countering nuclear proliferation and responding to the climate crisis. Before serving in Congress, he was in the U.S. Army Reserve and was elected to the Massachusetts State House for two terms.

Markey joins other FP4A endorsed Senate and House candidates: Rep. Colin Allred (TX-32), Rep. Gil Cisneros (CA-39), Rep. Jason Crow (CO-06), Cal Cunningham (NC), Dan Feehan (MN-01), Sara Gideon (ME), Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06), Sara Jacobs (CA-53), Gina Ortiz Jones (TX-23), Mark Kelly (AZ), Rep.
