Foreign Policy for America Endorses Representative Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (FL-26) for Re-Election

WASHINGTON D.C. - Foreign Policy for America announced today its endorsement of Debbie Mucarsel-Powell for re-election. As a member of the House Judiciary Committee immigration and homeland security subcommittees, Representative Mucarsel-Powell is running to represent Florida for a second term in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Debbie Mucarsel-Powell has quickly become a powerful voice in Congress on the essential role of the U.S. in supporting democracy and human rights in Latin America,” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director of Foreign Policy for America. “She gets it. As an immigrant herself, she has a terrific understanding of the region – but also of the specific actions that Congress can take to bring about positive change. Rep. Mucarsel-Powell was born and raised in Ecuador and moved to the U.S. with her family when she was 14 years old. Before running for Congress, she was a nonprofit administrator and later joined Florida International University, the fourth largest university in the country, where she was associate dean of the College of Medicine. As a first term Member of Congress, Mucarsel-Powell serves on the House Judiciary Committee, and on the immigration and homeland security subcommittees, where she has consistently advocated for principled American engagement in the world, particularly in the Western Hemisphere.
