Foreign Policy for America Action Network Endorses Representative Dan Feehan (MN-01) for Election

Service-minded veteran endorsed by nonpartisan Foreign Policy for America Action Network

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - October 3, 2019

WASHINGTON D.C. - Foreign Policy for America Action Network announced today its endorsement of Dan Feehan for election. As an Army veteran and former defense official, Feehan is running to represent southern Minnesota in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Dan Feehan is an extraordinary public servant,” said Andrew Albertson, treasurer of Foreign Policy for America Action Network. “Through his military service overseas and his work as a teacher here at home, Dan has made his life about serving others – not himself. That kind of leadership is exactly what we need to clean up Washington, and we’re excited to endorse Dan for Congress.”

“As a soldier, teacher, and acting Assistant Secretary of Defense, I've seen the consequences of policy firsthand,” said Feehan. “These experiences have taught me a great deal about leadership, but also about the impacts of our policy decisions. I intend to be a leading voice on restoring Congress' role in foreign policy and I'm honored to have earned the support of a great partner in Foreign Policy for America.”

Feehan served as an engineering officer in the U.S. Army immediately after graduating from college. He deployed twice under Operation Iraqi Freedom as an Airborne and Ranger-certified platoon leader and was awarded a Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal with Valor for his service. He then went on to spend two years teaching on the South Side of Chicago and Gary, Indiana as part of Teach for America, before completing a Master’s of Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School. From there, he served in the Obama administration as acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Readiness. If elected, Feehan will bring an immense amount of national security experience to the House, and he will work tirelessly to ensure that Congress exercises its rights of military authorization responsibly.

Feehan is one of Foreign Policy for America Action Network’s four House endorsements announced today, along with Scott Cooper (NC-02), Sri Kulkarni (TX-22), and Gina Ortiz Jones (TX-23). This group joins incumbent House Members already endorsed by the organization: Rep. Colin Allred (TX-32), Rep. Jason Crow (CO-06), Rep. Andy Kim (NJ-03), Rep. Tom Malinowski (NJ-07), Rep. Max Rose (NY-11), Rep. Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11), Rep. Elissa Slotkin (MI-08), and Rep. Abigail Spanberger (VA-07). The organization has also endorsed Senator Jeanne Shaheen, running for re-election in New Hampshire.
