Leading Representative endorsed by nonpartisan Foreign Policy for America Action Network
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - November 12, 2019
WASHINGTON D.C. - Foreign Policy for America Action Network announced today its endorsement of Representative Chrissy Houlahan for re-election. As a member of both the House Foreign Affairs and Armed Services committees, Representative Houlahan is running to represent the Berks and Chester counties for a second term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
“Chrissy Houlahan is a third-generation military veteran, an entrepreneur, and a committed public servant,” said Andrew Albertson, treasurer of Foreign Policy for America Action Network. “She brings that diversity of experience to the job — as a former COO, she understands the business case for supporting strong American diplomacy. And as a veteran, she knows the importance of a sustainable defense budget.”
“I am advocating for a strong American foreign policy that invests in our diplomatic corps, ensures military readiness, values and coordinates with our international allies, and champions equality around the world — all in order to build a more peaceful and secure global community,” said Houlahan. “That is why I'm honored to be endorsed by Foreign Policy for America, which works tirelessly to promote these shared values across the country and around the world.”
After attending Stanford University, Representative Houlahan served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force for three years before transitioning to 13 years in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, where she attained the rank of Captain. After finishing her active duty, Houlahan harnessed her entrepreneurial spirit and worked as the Chief Operations Officer of apparel brand AND 1 Basketball and eventually founded Philadelphia-based non-profit start-up B-Lab. She also worked as a science teacher for one year in a Philadelphia public school before being motivated to run for Congress. As a first term Member of Congress serving on the House Foreign Affairs and Armed Services committees, Houlahan has worked to ensure that Congress exercises its rights of military authorization responsibly.
Houlahan joins incumbent House Members already endorsed by Foreign Policy for America Action Network: Rep. Colin Allred (TX-32), Rep. Jason Crow (CO-06), Rep. Andy Kim (NJ-03), Rep. Tom Malinowski (NJ-07), Rep. Max Rose (NY-11), Rep. Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11), Rep. Elissa Slotkin (MI-08), and Rep. Abigail Spanberger (VA-07), as well as House candidates Scott Cooper (NC-02), Dan Feehan (MN-01), Sri Kulkarni (TX-22), and Gina Ortiz Jones (TX-23). The organization has also endorsed Senator Jeanne Shaheen, running for re-election in New Hampshire.
