Foreign Policy for America Endorses Chris Backemeyer for NE-01

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – March 31, 2026

WASHINGTON D.C. - Foreign Policy for America announced today its endorsement of Chris Backemeyer for Nebraska’s 1st Congressional District.

“Chris Backemeyer has a proven record of shaping U.S. foreign policy at the highest levels and is ready to lead from day one in Congress,” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director of Foreign Policy for America. “He understands both the stakes of American leadership and the responsibility to get foreign policy right. As tensions with Iran continue, he knows that principled engagement, strong alliances, and avoiding another unnecessary war are essential to protecting American interests and keeping us safe. We’re proud to support Chris and the leadership he’ll bring to Congress.”

“I’ve spent my career strengthening our security, keeping Americans safe, and protecting our interests abroad, and I’m honored to earn Foreign Policy for America’s support at this pivotal moment for our national security and our standing in the world,” said Chris Backemeyer. “From a self-inflicted trade war that raises costs on farmers and families, to a reckless war with Iran pursued without a clear rationale or strategy, the Trump Administration has weakened our alliances, undermined our economy, and put American security at risk. I’m proud to have Foreign Policy for America on our team as we fight to lower costs, support Nebraska families, and restore steady, serious leadership that keeps Americans safe and prosperous.”

Chris Backemeyer has dedicated his career to advancing U.S. foreign policy and strengthening national security. He has held senior roles at the Office of the Vice President, National Security Council, and Department of State, where he worked on international energy and economic policy with allies and partners around the world. Throughout his public service, Chris has focused on strengthening American leadership by building strong alliances, promoting principled diplomacy, and addressing global challenges head-on. In Congress, he will fight for those same values – keeping Americans safe, strengthening alliances, and pushing back against the self-inflicted trade policies that have raised costs for families in Nebraska.

Chris joins other FP4A endorsed candidates: Rep. Chris Deluzio (PA-17), JoAnna Mendoza (AZ-06), Christina Bohannan (IA-01), Bridget Brink (MI-07), Eric Chung (MI-10), Rep. Chris Pappas (NH-Sen), Bayly Winder (NE-02), Rebecca Bennett (NJ-07), Rep. Yassamin Ansari (AZ-03), Rep. Don Beyer (VA-08), Rep. Gil Cisneros (CA-31), Rep. Veronica Escobar (TX-16), Rep.
