Adam Smith is the Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee and Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus for Effective Foreign Assistance. As Ranking Member, Adam is a powerful voice for the strong, principled, diplomacy-first approach to foreign policy that enhances our national security and reduces the burden on our service members. Adam is also a strong advocate for investments in global public health programs, the clean energy transition, refugee resettlement efforts, and democratic and economic development assistance. Before his election to Congress, Adam served in the Washington State Senate, becoming the youngest Senator in the country when he took office in 1991.
