(Washington, D.C. – July 17) The Foreign Policy for America Action Network has endorsed Abigail Spanberger for the race in Virginia’s 7th Congressional district, the political action committee announced today.

“Abigail Spanberger is exactly the kind of leader we need in Congress,” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director of Foreign Policy for America, “As a CIA officer, she gained a clear-eyed understanding of the national security challenges we face and worked tirelessly to serve and protect Americans around the world. If elected, Abigail will bring the kind of moral clarity and courage that Congress seems to be missing these days. That’s why we’re so proud to stand with her in her run for Congress.”

Spanberger served as a CIA operations officer from 2006 to 2014, traveling and living abroad collecting intelligence, managing assets, and overseeing high-profile programs in service to the United States.  Prior to this, she worked as a federal law enforcement officer working narcotics and money laundering cases with the US Postal Inspection Service. After leaving government service, Spanberger worked at EAB – Royall & Company, helping colleges and universities to create diverse student bodies, increase graduation rates, and break down financial barriers to higher education.

With today's announcement, Spanberger joins Lauren Baer (FL-18), Rep. Salud Carbajal (CA-24), Jason Crow (CO-6), Rufus Gifford (MA-3), Shannon Hader (WA-8), Ken Harbaugh (OH-7), Sen. Tim Kaine (VA), Andy Kim (NJ-3), Tom Malinowski (NJ-7), Amy McGrath (KY-6), Beto O’Rourke (TX), Gina Ortiz Jones (TX-23), Jacky Rosen (NV), Elissa Slotkin (MI-8), Nancy Soderberg (FL-6), and Rashida Tlaib (MI-13) as candidates for Congress endorsed by the Foreign Policy for America Action Network in the 2018 election cycle.
