Former U.S. Trade Representative official and Air Force veteran endorsed by nonpartisan Foreign Policy for America Action Network
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Washington, D.C. – May 16) The Foreign Policy for America Action Network has endorsed Gina Ortiz Jones, candidate for Congress in Texas’ twenty-third district, the political action committee announced today.
“Gina Ortiz Jones’ career in national security spans across multiple federal agencies and multiple continents – she served our country honorably in the Air Force, USAFRICOM, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. She will bring to Congress both her extraordinary expertise and her deep commitment to serving our country,” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director at Foreign Policy for America. “That’s why we’re so excited to support Gina. She’s worked on some of the most pressing national security challenges of our time, most recently advising on the critical linkages between our economic and national security. Gina has worked tirelessly to protect American interests. We know she will do the same for her constituents.”
“One of the clearest expressions of our American values is our foreign policy. As we face unprecedented attacks on international norms and the very institutions that have secured our economic and national security, we need members of Congress willing to put country over party. I have a record of doing just that, and I couldn’t be more honored to receive the Foreign Policy for America endorsement,” said Jones.
Jones most recently served as the Director for Investment at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. Prior to this role, she worked as the Senior Advisor for Trade Enforcement and as a Special Advisor to the Deputy Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency. In her role with the DIA, Jones supported the Agency’s strategic planning, as well as operations in Africa, having served in the Libya Crisis Intelligence Cell. She was an inaugural member of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) and oversaw security cooperation engagements with African partner-nations, including South Sudan’s independence referendum. Before her time in the civil service, Jones served in the U.S. Air Force as an intelligence officer in Iraq.
Jones joins Rep. Salud Carbajal (CA-24), Rufus Gifford (MA-3), Ken Harbaugh (OH-7), Sara Jacobs (CA-49), Andy Kim (NJ-3), Tom Malinowski (NJ-7), Amy McGrath (KY-6), Rep. Jacky Rosen (NV), Elissa Slotkin (MI-8), and Nancy Soderberg (FL-6) as candidates for Congress endorsed by Foreign Policy for America Action Network in the 2018 election cycle.
