Foreign Policy for America Action Network Endorses Amy McGrath (KY-6)
Marine Corps veteran endorsed by nonpartisan Foreign Policy for America Action Network
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Washington, D.C. – April 23) The Foreign Policy for America Action Network has endorsed Amy McGrath, candidate for Congress in Kentucky’s sixth district, the political action committee announced today.
“When you meet Amy McGrath, you realize immediately – nothing is going to stop her from fighting for what she knows is right,” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director of Foreign Policy for America. “As a kid growing up in Kentucky, she dreamed of being a fighter pilot, and when she found out the U.S. military wouldn’t allow it, she wrote to members of Congress to fight for change. In three combat tours, she served our country honorably, flying 89 combat missions and serving with such distinction that she was selected to be an instructor at the U.S. Naval Academy. And now she’s ready to fight for the people of Lexington, Richmond, Frankfort, and the rest of the 6th district in Washington. We’re proud to support Amy – she’s just the kind of leader we need in Washington today.”
“The many global challenges we face require leaders with international experience and a clear-headed understanding of the changing global environment and the complexities of modern conflict. As a former military officer, protecting America was the business I lived in my entire adult life. I look forward to bringing that experience and perspective to Congress, and I’m honored to receive the support of Foreign Policy for America.” said McGrath.
McGrath was the first female Marine to fly in an F/A-18 on a combat mission, and in her 20 years of service, was deployed to Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Iraq, and East Asia. She was also a Marine Corps Congressional Fellow, serving as defense and foreign affairs policy adviser to Rep. Susan Davis of San Diego. Having reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, McGrath’s last assignment was teaching at the US Naval Academy, where she taught a course on Weapons of Mass Destruction (CBRN) Policy.
McGrath joins Rep. Salud Carbajal (CA-24), Rufus Gifford (MA-3), Ken Harbaugh (OH-7), Andy Kim (NJ-3), Tom Malinowski (NJ-7), Rep. Jacky Rosen (NV), Elissa Slotkin (MI-8), and Nancy Soderberg (FL-6) as candidates for Congress endorsed by Foreign Policy for America Action Network in the 2018 election cycle.
