(Washington, D.C. – December 21) The Foreign Policy for America Action Network announced today that they have endorsed Elissa Slotkin, a national security leader who is running to represent Michigan’s 8th congressional district.
“Elissa Slotkin served Republican and Democratic presidents with distinction for over thirteen years in the Intelligence and Defense communities. Her resume speaks for itself,” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director of Foreign Policy for America. “Elissa is a tenacious leader who will deliver results for her constituents – and for the American people. If elected, she will be a leader in Congress on national security issues on day one. We’re very proud to endorse Elissa Slotkin for Congress and believe that she is exactly the kind of leader that our Congress needs right now.”
“I'm honored to receive the endorsement of Foreign Policy for America, an organization that is focused on electing leaders with proven expertise in foreign policy,” Slotkin said. “I have spent my career in national security, working on tough problems. I believe that it is time for a new generation of leadership in Congress – folks who care more about solving problems than about scoring political points.”
Elissa Slotkin, a third-generation Michigander, spent her early life on a beef cattle farm in Holly. She began her national security career in 2003 as an analyst in the CIA, where she served three tours in Iraq. Slotkin also worked for the Director of National Intelligence, the White House National Security Council, and the State Department before joining the Department of Defense in 2011. Slotkin concluded her Pentagon career as an acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, where she was the principal advisor to the Secretary of efense on strategy and policy related to NATO, Russia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Western Hemisphere.

With today's announcement, Slotkin joins Foreign Policy for America Action Network’s previously endorsed candidates: Andy Kim (NJ-3), Ken Harbaugh (OH-7), Tom Malinowski (NJ-7), and Nancy Soderberg (FL-6).
