Foreign Policy for America Action Network Endorses Andy Kim for Congress (NJ-3)

Former advisor to Generals David Petraeus and John Allen among first slate of endorsements for the nonpartisan Foreign Policy for America Action Network

(Washington, D.C. – October 18) The Foreign Policy for America Action Network has endorsed Andy Kim, candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s 3rd District, the political action committee announced today.

“Andy Kim served our country with distinction from Afghanistan to the Pentagon to the White House, and he brings that same dedication to public service now as he runs for Congress,” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director of Foreign Policy for America. “Andy knows how to work with Democrats and Republicans alike to save lives and keep our nation safe. We’re proud to endorse Andy and do everything we can to send him to Congress.”

“I'm honored to receive the endorsement of Foreign Policy for America,” said Kim. “As a former White House national security official and diplomat, I've dealt first hand with the challenges facing our country's civilians and armed forces. In these uncertain times with a nuclear North Korea and a lack of leadership from the White House, the need for veterans, diplomats, and other foreign policy leaders in Congress is pivotal. With Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in my district in New Jersey (NJ-3), national security is a local issue, and I will fight hard to support the base and our armed service men and women and civilians all over the globe.”

Kim is a career public servant. He most recently served at the White House as the Director of Iraq in the National Security Council where he coordinated the crisis response to counter the rise of ISIS. Prior to his time at the White House, Kim served in Afghanistan as Strategic Advisor to Generals David Petraeus and John Allen, and also worked at the State Department, the Pentagon, USAID, and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. As a Rhodes Scholar and a Truman Scholar, Kim received his Doctorate in International Relations from the University of Oxford.

Kim joins Ken Harbaugh (OH-7), Tom Malinowski (NJ-7), and Nancy Soderberg (FL-6) as the first four candidates for Congress endorsed by Foreign Policy for America Action Network in the 2018 election cycle.
